Handpainting
I’ve always loved bright and cheerful things, even though in my daily life I usually wear and choose shades of grey, black, and white. When I returned to ceramics after working in advertising, I painted a lot – every piece was unique and one-of-a-kind. And those who were lucky managed to get one of these hand-painted originals.
Over time, these floral patterns have developed, and we still paint them by hand. There is something very meditative about it – adding tiny dots to forget-me-nots or using a small sponge to shape the petals of cornflowers. I don’t do this alone – I have wonderful assistants whom I trust with creating these patterns. It’s incredibly important, because it’s simply not possible to do everything in the studio by yourself.
